An open letter from my future self

Dear Present Self,

If only I can give you a glimpse into the future, then you would be able to wipe that tear forming at the corner of your eye.

Right now, you probably feel lost. Without any sense of direction, you're just aimlessly floating through the river of life. It's only human to feel that way but this is not uncharted territory for you. Remember the time when you lost your favorite earrings? Or the time you accidentally killed your gold fishes? Or your encounter with that bully from school? Or your first heartache .... The second, the third, the fourth and the fifth?

I'm sure you do.

But can you also remember how you were able to pick yourself up after those? You bought new earrings, made it a point to keep dogs instead of fishes, vowed not to accept that bully's friend request in Facebook and you were able to give your whole heart over and over again (no matter how exhausted it is)

Your optimism is your greatest strength. Not everyone has the ability to see the light in the darkness... Even before a visible glow.

Sadly, life throws you curve balls when you least expect it. But you have to remember that there are 12 innings in the game. One day you will hit that home run, I can assure you of that.

If only you knew how happy you will be, you won't have to go through another day of sadness. But I can't reveal to you how things will pan out. That's not how it works. Part of what makes this life exciting is not knowing if your dreams will come true. Life is a voyage of discovery, you have to embrace the uncertainty and to reveal what you are destined to be.

For now, keep the faith.

Love,
Your future self
